Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one titles have been achieved on hard courts

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev won his first championship for over two years with victory over Corentin Moutet in the tournament final.

Medvedev, a former number one, has had a difficult year, winning just one win at the major tournaments and experiencing a setback at the American major.

His varied form on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his service game in especial - caused him exiting of the elite rankings and eventually splitting with long-term trainer Cervara.

Now training with Johansson and Goetzke, he has gradually improved in the last few weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought three-set triumph over opponent Moutet.

This marks his initial trophy following the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hardcourt from that period of 2023.

Victory also signifies he has achieved twenty-one victories at 21 distinct events.

"It's the first time I'm at a competition with my both daughters simultaneously, so to get a trophy is really nice," stated ranked player Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my younger daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I got when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had lost his past six title deciders, comprising in that event previously this season.

Medvedev's defensive strategy and regular reactions on court had caused some to question if his skill to perform at the highest level was finished.

Yet the 29-year-old has altered his approach in recent weeks, attempting to advance forward and play assertively, backed up by an enhanced serve.

Medvedev recovered from a deficit in the initial set against the tricky Frenchman, winning 4 of the concluding five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The pair traded breaks in the following set before the challenger, bidding for his first professional championship, took control to create a final set.

Moutet saved 4 early opportunities in a competitive deciding set before the champion secured a break to fifteen to secure the win.

Fittingly, he clinched victory with a shot at the net area, with the Frenchman unable to control a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
